You know it wasn’t just an amazing outing, it was a fantastic dinner; just the hubby and me, without our little bumble bee. (I have loads of nicknames for her.) Miss her as I might when I am away from her, and I truly do, it’s nice to have some grown up time. It’s lovely in fact. We got (a little) dressed up and stepped out “in style” I might add, to one of, what I definitely consider, LA’s hot spots. It was hot. And I would go there again, sans bebe (of course) in a heart beat. A beautiful place to sit and people/space watch. The meal was very enjoyable, and the service was great! I don’t know what more one can ask for. – I have always been a fan of great restaurants, most of them very expensive, and this is one to add to my list.
LA, like any other metropolitan city, has its share of good restaurants; I can name 4-5 that I really enjoy on the spot. There are others that were a disappointment. Fig & Olive is delightful. As the restaurant is located on Melrose Place, it’s gorgeous and at just a great spot. If you want to see and be seen this is the place you want to go to.
I am not particularly hip, nor do I hob nob with the “it” crowd, but I know my scrumptuous, and pricey, fare. I moved here from New York City 7 years ago, and since I came to LA I have been looking for great places to dine. Well, I’ve now found one more.
I would easily add Fig & Olive to the 4-5 restaurants I truly enjoy in Los Angeles, and I would go as far as to say the ambience there is more upbeat, more beautiful and more inviting– we spent almost 3 hours there, savoring every bite of our meal, and our surroundings; and it didn’t feel that long.
We ordered: the ceviche; Salmon Ceviche, Branzino Lemon Ceviche, Sesame Tuna Tartar, appetizer for my husband, the Yellow Fin Tuna Carpaccio appetizer for me; I had the Rosemarie Lamb Chops, my husband had the New York Strip Steak; and for dessert my husband enjoyed the Choclate Souffle, and I fell in love with the Warm Marzipan Cake both served with yummy vanilla ice cream. Marzipan is not easy to find in most places, so when I spotted that on the menu there was no question as to whether I was having dessert. My husand ordered a Latte and I had a Cappuccino– we talked about how much we enjoyed our dining experience for a while after leaving the restaurant. Everything was well presented and attention was paid to all details, staff were exceedingly helpful and interested in whether you had everything you might need at every course.
I almost forgot the drinks! Upon our arrival we had cocktails, just to ease into the experience, while simply enjoying our surroundings. I had the C’est La Veev and my husband enjoyed a Roquette. We loved our drinks.
All in all, this restaurant is a perfect destination, for a large group, an after work crowd (even a business dinner) or an intimate dinner. Highly recommended if you are looking for gorgeous surroundings, gorgeous people, and great fare resulting in a completely perfect dining experience.
