I really don’t know much about real estate, but I do have an interest in it right now, because a) we don’t own a home, and we would love to; b) I’m interested in how one does get around to buying in the current state of affairs; economically speaking. It’s all such a challenge. I hope we can afford to buy, because I feel like renting is such a waste of money, and I am sick of throwing money (that we really don’t have too much of) away.
So, reading about real easte has become something I’ve taken up lately when I have some down time. I do this just out of curiosity, in the hopes that I can learn a thing or two.
Some markets have plunged, while others have reached somewhat of a plateau. Who knows what will come of it all. I would love for the prices to drop more, for our personal gain; but then what will that mean to the economy? So, I read what I can, and look for any opportunities. Unfortunately for us, I haven’t found any yet.
What I found interesting is that real estate hasn’t recovered in places where one would think it wouldn’t drop much in the first place. One of the markets I thought would be a great market, for people who can afford it, of course; is Maui. I thought people, with the funds to do so, would be looking to purchase vacation homes there. I read about Maui real easte, and thought to myself, “wow”. I mean, I haven’t actually been to Maui, when we visited Hawaii we went to O’ahu; but by the pictures I’ve seen in travel guides, it looks like paradise.
We are by no means in a position to purchase real estate in Maui, the above is something I learned while browsing around about the state of real estate in different places. We’ll start small, if at all. And we’ll see where that takes us. Something tells me it won’t be Maui. At least not anytime soon.
